Skincare Habits Every Twentysomething Pinay Should Have

The truth is, skincare shouldn’t be complicated. The secret is in knowing what products and practices will suit you and your lifestyle the best. Here, some important habits that you should do by the time you turn the not-so-big 2-0.

1. Get a Cleanser That Works for You.
What do you mean you still don’t wash your face at night? Unless you’re intentionally asking for clogged pores and frequent breakouts, then be our guest. Use a cleanser suited for your skin and be sure to wash your face every night. In the mornings, you can get away with skipping the cleanser and going straight for toner, granted that you have a solid skincare routine at night, of course.

2. Get Into the Habit of Actually Taking off Your Makeup Every. Single. Day.
Try your very best to be that girl who will use every bit of energy left in her body just to wipe off makeup, even after a wild night of drinking in ~*da club.*~ You can leave a pack of makeup wipes on your bedside table—these will be enough to at least wipe off the products on your face to avoid breakouts. Another product every self-proclaimed tamad girl should have is a bottle of micellar water, because it can take off all your makeup without having to rinse.

3. Use Eye Cream.
The skin around your eye area is very thin and fragile—so start taking care of it as early as you can. For the daytime, use an eye cream infused with SPF to help shield it from the sun. At night, thicker eye cream will work best. Use your ring finger—the one with the gentlest pressure—to tap the product onto your skin.

4. Know How to Treat Your Acne.
Because by now, you know better than to pop your pimple. Find that one spot treatment that will never let you down, and will save you from acne scars in the future.

5. Give Your Skin a Quick Pick-Me-Up by Exfoliating.
Dull skin? Give it an instant boost by using a gentle exfoliator to slough away dead skin cells. Limit exfoliating to twice a week, because over-exfoliating your skin can actually lead to increased oil production.

6. Have a Derma That Can Answer All of Your Skin's Needs.
When you’re no longer sure what to do with your skin, consult the derma.

7. Know Better Than Having the Habit of Constantly Touching Your Face.
Think of how many things your fingers touch on a daily basis. Would you really want the bacteria from your keyboard on your face? Girl, it is not worth it. Another thing you should start to practice is regularly cleaning your gadgets, particularly your phone. Your screen is infested with bacteria that can wreak havoc on your face, even if you’re so diligent about skincare. Every night, use an anti-bacterial wipe on your screen or spray some alcohol and wipe it off.

8. Eat for Your Skin.
Your time and money spent on skincare will all go to waste if you still don’t eat right. Keep your skin supple and young by hydrating yourself with at least eight glasses of water a day. Ditch foods that have high levels of transfat and dairy, because they could lead to skin issues.
